If you have 4 dimm slots on mobo then you probably have dual channel and 2*2gb and2*4gb will work just fine but there will be a small performance impact. Try putting 2gb sticks in slot 1 and 3, then put 4gb ram sticks(2) into slot 2 and 4. I hope it works for you.
